I had the privilege of meeting and interviewing Peyton Sefick, a competitive athlete, power soccer champion, and inspiration to many. Peyton was born with arthrogryposis, or multiple congenital joint contractures that limit development and restrict movement, but despite being bound to his power wheelchair all his life, he has always been a very independent and proud person. He never lets his disability get in the way of the things he wants to achieve and he even drives his own modified car. However, when we went to get coffee before our interview, I learned that he was not able to purchase or carry his own drink. His power wheelchair allowed him to do so much on his own, but not that. So I set out to find a solution for him. The following product was inspired by the function of camera stabilizers and existing smart payment systems - Google Pay, Apple Pay, Samsung Pay, etc. Once installed, Peyton and other wheelchair users can purchase drinks directly with the drink stabilizer without the risk of their wallet ending up in the wrong hands and then take the drink to-go anywhere on any terrain.
