Based off a book of the same title, Edible and Poisonous Mushroom of New York State is an app that allows users to search up information on any mushroom. Users can find the best locations to find a specific mushrooms, recipes to try, and safety information. Once a user finds a mushroom or tries a recipe, they can upload their photos and comments so other users can see the information. Verified experts can give advice to newer hobbyists that are just starting off. This app can benefit many mushroom enthusiasts by connecting people with similar hobbies and providing accurate information and guidelines to finding and/or cooking mushrooms safely and efficiently.
The Book

As a group, we decided to expand on the experience provided by this book. Through the app, users will have access to all the original introductory material from the book anywhere they go along with updated information. The database will grow as more more mushrooms are found in different locations or new recipes are uploaded by users. Also, unlike the book, the information available in the app will not be limited to New York.
