Normalizing Condom Purchases by Women

Product Packaging | Point of Purchase

Condom usage is for the benefit and safety of both male and female users (in male/female cases). However, as a society, we still expect the men to provide the condom. Nearly 80% of the women surveyed said they felt uncomfortable making the purchase. My partner, Madelyn Minicozzi, and I tackled this problem by redesigning the condom package and point of purchase. The goal was to change the association of condoms from a family planning tool sold in pharmacies to a casual feminine product that can be sold alongside beauty products on the counter top of department stores or even makeup stores. By doing so, we hoped to normalize the idea of a woman purchasing condoms. Women are already proudly taking care of their sexual health and they shouldn’t feel any different in the store.
